The call
You say what you have found and where in the home it turned up. That is usually enough to narrow it down on the phone: a trail along a counter and a single insect in a bathroom are different problems with different answers.
Give the town as well as the address. Contractors are licensed by state and work particular areas, and the town decides who is reached.
The visit
Identification comes before treatment. A technician looks inside, around the outside, and in the crawl space or attic where the sign usually starts — then says what the pest is, what the treatment involves, how many visits it takes and what it costs, before any work begins.
Why the pages go down to the town
A house on a crawl space and a house on a sealed slab fail in different places. A rowhouse with a shared wall is a different job again, and a manufactured home is treated from underneath rather than around a slab. That is not visible from a state or a metro area, so every town has its own page.
Licensing
Pesticide application is licensed by the state, and the license that matters is one issued in your state. Ask what name it is held under before work starts: a trading name and the licensed entity are frequently not the same.
